Listen To The Music

The game that most influences me on this project, Euro Truck Simulator 2, has a key feature that this game was previously lacking; music.

After long last, this has been rectified; the game now features an in-game music player. It's not quite finished yet. But to start off with, it loads a playlist of music I grabbed off OpenGameArt.org that the player can play, pause, go to the next or previous songs. The next stage of it will be to let players use their own music, which I have a vague idea of how I want to do that. Expect more updates on this in the future.

Other New Changes And Fixes

  • Damage numbers adjusted.
  • Cargo now adds to the mass of the ship.
  • Additional font changes.
  • Start Game menu now has options for map sizes (Not currently implemented, but coming soon!).
  • IDs for stations now displayed on the map screen.
  • One advanced station will now spawn no matter what.
  • Players can now upgrade thrust.
  • Updated credits screen.
  • Easter Egg on main menu slightly adjusted.

Things To Do Before Demo Day:

  • Basic galaxy generation customisation options (As previously mentioned).
  • Fix UI bug with station menus overlapping each other.

Another Note

A few things have happened since the last post. The most notable being that I took part in a game jam and you should go check it out. Prep for the jam ended up taking up more time than I previously planned to take off. That said, I'm glad I did it. Doing sprite art and such was a nice break from all the programming I usually do.

In bad news though, I will be taking a break from game dev after next week. A little thing called Yakuza 7 is coming out, and I want to play as much of it as possible before Demo Day. But don't worry, I will return as quickly as possible to clean the game up for the deadline. I'm also going to brainstorm a new name for the game.

Till then, take care.
